Calamares is able to extract fragments out of a video file by either copying a fragment to a new file, or by marking the timecode of a fragment and select the scene for viewing purposes within the original file.

Extract Fragments from Video

Fragments keep their relation with the original file for copyright and management purposes. Fragments are also used by composing so-called B-roll programs.

Fragments & B-roll programs

B-roll programs are videos in which a second video appears on top of the first video (A). You actually mask the video image of the first video with the second (B) video, while you continuously listen to the audio of the first video.
